* I installed your new UI but when I use the /load window in EQ to load it it doesnt work

If you go through this FAQ and still cant find an answer to your problem, please use the
at the bottom of this page to send me an email, making sure you fill in all the fields, pasting an extract of your UIErrors.txt file (you will find on your main Everquest directory), and giving me a valid email address so that i can get back to you, |

* I unzipped the files in the new Custom Folder like you said, but it doesnt work and loads /default again
This is my basic nightmare feedback problem. For some reason, the zip modified xml mod will work for 99 people, and will refuse to work for the remaining 1.
Nobody could tell me why this is sometimes happening. My best guess is that it might have something to do with the version of the UNZIP program you are using.
You can try the following. Sometimes it works :
1. Instead of extracting the files DIRECTLY into the CustomUI folder you created, try to extract them to your desktop.
2. Open your windows explorer, copy them from your desktop, and paste them into the CustomUI folder.
4. If it still doesnt work, try downloading the latest version of Unzip, and try again.
5. If it still doesnt work, or refuses to load and boots you back to the /Default eq UI, well... im sorry :( I still havent figured out why some people have this problem. I am still looking for an answer to that question, but to this day, nobody could help me find an answer or a solution. It just wont work for some people :( |

* Can I use only parts of your UI and mix them with my existing CustomUI
This doesnt allways work. It depends which part of my mod you would like to use alone. Sometimes I also change the template or add graphical files to the xml window you want to use on its own, and in this case it might not work.
You will need to try, and see if it works or not. If you do. Be sure to make a copy of the original xml file(s) you have BEFORE you replace them with mine, or just rename the original xml file(s) adding a BAK at the end. That way, even if it doesnt work, you will be able to delete the modified xml file you imported from my UI and still have a copy of the original xml file you were using.
Example :
You want to use the SpellCastingWnd.xml window from one of my UIs.
1. Go to your customUI folder, and rename the SpellCastingWnd.xml file to SpellCastingWndBAK.xml 2. Extract the SpellCastingWnd.xml file from my UI zip to your desktop. 3. Copy it into your customUI folder. 5. If it doesnt work, doesnt work properly, or loads the default settings, log out, go to your CustomUI folder, delete the SpellCastingWnd.xml file you unzipped from my UI, and rename the BAK copy of your original xml file to its original name.
Here is a list of the most common modified xml files :
- EQUI_AAWindow.xml is the Alternate Advancement window - EQUI_BuffWindow.xml is the window where your buff icons appear - EQUI_CastSpellWnd.xml is the gem bar with your 8 memmed spells - EQUI_GroupWindow.xml is your group window, listing your group members - EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml is your hotkeys window - EQUI_Inventory.xml is your inventory window - EQUI_PetInfoWindow.xml is your pet window - EQUI_PlayerWindow.xml is your player window, with your chars name and your HP, mana, and sta gauges - EQUI_TargetWindow.xml is your target window, showing the PC or NPC you have on target atm.
- EQUI_SpellBookWnd.xml is your spellbook xml window. If you replace your EQUI_SpellbookWnd.xml file with one of mines, please refer to the "Spell Books" section of this FAQ, and replace the Spellbook01.tga to Spellbook04.tga files and the EQUI_SpellbookWnd.xml file..
Dont forget to rename your original files before trying to replace them !!!

* I downloaded your spellbook skins but when I load them all the rest of my customUI except the spellbook returns to default settings
If you allready have a Custom UI and decide to install one of my spellbook skins, you need to replace the spellbook files you had in your customUI folder with the ones in my spellbook.zip. If you create a new UIfolder for my spellbook files, you wont be able to view both the spellbook and your existing Custom UI at the same time.
Once safety backup copies are made, ust extract the files in the Spellbook.zip you downloaded and then copy them and paste them inside your CustomUI folder.
|

* I installed your spellbook but when I open the book part of the picture is all scrambled
You need to extract from the zip file BOTH the Spellbook01.tga to Spellbook04.tga AND the EQUI_Spellbook.xml files for the spellbook mods to work properly. If you only import the tga files, it will not work.
|
* I read that you did an update, but my UI is still the same
Sometimes I do updates on some of my UI's, either to make them compatibles with new patches, or to add information to them (like for the LocWizard for example).
Nevertheless, these updates are not going to be magically imported into your computer unless you actually DOWNLOAD the new update for the file, and reinstall the UI (Yes, there are people who think that it happens by magic)

Here are listed the most common problems people have when they try to install new UI's. Please check it out to see if you can find the solution to your problem there. If not, use the form at the bottom of this page to send me a feedback email, and I will get back to you as soon as possible. |

* I installed your new UI but EQ keeps replacing it with the default files
* I installed your new UI but nothing changed on my screen when I logged into EQ
* The new UI folder doesnt appear when I type /load from within the game, all I get listed is Default
* When I type /load from EQ nothing happens and nothing gets listed
You need to type /load UIFoldername (i.e. the name of the folder you installed the new UI in) for the UI to appear within eq. If you dont remember the name of the folder, type /load and eq will display a list of all the UI's available on your computer. Everyone gets /Default listed, and then it adds up depending on how many different custom UI's you have installed on your PC.
If you only had for example one custom UI installed named "CustomUI" , when entering the /load command, EQ would display the following in your Chat window :
Default CustomUi
You can allways go back to the Default everquest UI settings by entering "/load default" from the game.
If your new CustomUI folder is NOT appearing underneath "Default" when you enter the "/load" command, or if EQ keeps replacing the custom UI files with the default ones, chances are you did not create the folder at the right spot. You need to create your Custom UI folder as shown on this pic for Everquest to find it :
(on this pic, the name of the customUI folder was "PaladinF", but it could be "CustomUI" or anything else, depending on the instructions given on the Readme file included in your zip)
If nothing gets listed at all when you enter /load, not even Default.... Erm. are you sure you have the new UI turned on in EQ ? :) |

* Something happend and I lost all the colors and window positioning of the UI
In all of my Complete UI's zips I allways include a file named UI_Yourcharname_00. All the colors and window positioning setups of the skins are contained in it. Please refer to the readme file of your zip to recover the settings. |

* I tried to modify the pics from your UI and now everything is black
TGA files used in eq use Alpha Channels, and masks. If your graphic editing tool is not able to deal with Alpha Channels and masks, you wont be able to edit the TGA files, and when you will load the UI the file you have modified will appear all black. Please refer to the help section of your graphic editing program and check the Alpha Channel section for more details. |

* I saved the zip file into the customUI folder but it doesnt work
* I copied the files from the zip file into the EQ and pasted them in the customUI folder like you said, but it doesnt work
You cant just open the zip file you downloaded, copy the files that are in the zip, paste them into your UI folder, or simply save the zip file in the UI folder and expect it to work. Zip files need to be extracted (extract = unzip). They are in a compressed modified format in the zip file, and everquest (or any other program in this case) will not be able to read them INSIDE of the zip file or if they havent been extracted. Please refer to the Readme file contained in the zip you downloaded, and go through it again, this time making sure to extract them and not simply copy them from the zip file into your custom UI folder. |
